Meet Your Cousins #9

Dear Family,

Anderson Family

Today I get to write about my three daughters, Debra Sue, Sally Jane and Patricia Joy.

Their accomplishments are many, but none greater than their families.  The older I get the more I realize that the family is what life is all about!

The three girls all live in Edmond, Oklahoma, which is 48 1/2 minutes from our doorstep in Stillwater, life can’t get much better than that.

DEBRA SUE ANDERSON MITCHELL  (Jim Lee, Alida, Elmer J.)  Debra and her husband live in Edmond, Oklahoma. She started her studies at Drury College in Springfield MO., then transferred to Oklahoma State University where she studied Chemical Engineering.  Her last stop was in the College of Medicine at the Univ. Of Oklahoma.  After a private practice and teaching career at the Univ. Of Oklahoma, she opened her clinic, Breast Imaging of Oklahoma.

Debra married her high school sweetheart, Bay Mitchell.  After practicing law with his family’s firm, he was appointed to be a judge in the Oklahoma Court of Civil Appeals. They enjoy following the lives and careers of their three children, Elliot, Madeline and Adam.  Debra said that while she has enjoyed practicing medicine for 28 years, her real pride and joy is her family.  Her hobbies are photography, reading and gardening.

SALLY JANE ANDERSON  (Jim Lee, Alida, Elmer J.)  Sally lives in Edmond, Oklahoma.
Sally followed her dad’s interest in the restaurant business and got her college degree from the School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration, at Oklahoma State University.  She started, at the age of 13, making onion rings for our restaurant.  (I am not sure my girls liked this job because their hand always smelled like onions, but I thought that it was fine since it kept the boys away.)
While living in New York when her husband was studying at New York University, she had the opportunity to work in a popular NY restaurant.  After returning to Oklahoma City she was an assistant manager for the Varsity Club restaurant in OKC. Sally is now retired from the restaurant business, but keeps busy helping her sister in the clinic.  Her daughter, Kathleen graduated last year from the Univ. Of Oklahoma and works for a bank in Muskogee, Ok.  Sally enjoys her P.E.O. activities and traveling with a very special group of friends.
PATRICIA  JOY ANDERSON SHAW  (Jim Lee, Alida, Elmer J.)  Tricia and her husband Bill Shaw live in Edmond Oklahoma. She attended Oklahoma State Univ. School Of Business where she obtained her degree in accounting.  After obtaining her C.P.A., she worked for a private firm before moving to Edmond.  She now works in the Sonic Drive In Corporate Office as their Director of Budgets.  With over 3500 restaurants, the job is challenging.
Tricia met her husband Bill Shaw while in college.  Bill coached high school boys basketball before becoming a coach of women’s basketball at the University Of Central Oklahoma. 
Tricia, when not working, watches basketball.  Her son Andy is a graduate assistant basketball coach for Oklahoma State University, so between Andy and Bill there is a game going on all winter.  Their youngest son, Hayden Lee, is interested in the food business and loves to play the guitar and paint.  Tricia’s hobbies other than basketball are garage and estate sales and the e-bay circuit.

Meet Your Cousins #8

Dear Family,
Today we will visit Bill and Jan Caffey’s daughters, Christy Lee and Jan Elizabeth Caffey.
As we visit the Caffey’s once again, it brings back memories of Bill Caffey.
Back in the 1940’s when we would visit Mangum, we cousins (John, George and Jim Lee) were younger than Bill.  I can remember looking up to Bill who played football for Mangum High School and he had a LETTER JACKET which he let me try on (I think it came down to me knees).  I remember he would joke with us, show us a magic trick and was just a lot of fun to be around. I wish I could ask him who the child was in the attached picture.

Another picture of the Caffeys at the home place in Strong City, Oklahoma and I am wondering why Gene Caffey was in a Navy uniform? Do you think it might have been Mike’s uniform?
Also, warm memories of when Jan and Bill would invite Jane and I to Tulsa for a family get together.  I think that was the last time I saw Jan Jan (while she was still in the Army.)
CHRISTY LEE CAFFEY (Bill, Luella, Elmer) lives in Dallas Texas.
Chris attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas.  That is where her mother said she learned her money management skills. After college she has worked for a Texas charitable organization that handles large donations (wonder how big “large donations” are in Texas?)  She is presently in-between jobs and hoping to move in Oklahoma City.
JAN ELIZABETH CAFFEY  (Bill, Luella, Elmer) lives in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Jan Jan is her nickname.  She attended Oklahoma University where she received her ROTC Army Commission..  She stayed in the Army  as an Artillery Officer until retirement as a Major.  After retirement she obtained her Masters Degree from the Colorado School of Mines. She keeps busy today helping her Methodist Church with their business operations.
